Draft lottery recap

OH my goooooooooooodness!

That draft lottery was bummer y’all. The Knicks ended up getting bumped down two slots to #8 overall. Like most fans, a brotha like me was sad for a little (Downed a nice meal then slept it off.)

Fear not ladies and gents because there are still some gems in this draft that the Knicks may be able to scoop up (Not Lamelo Ball or Anthony Edwards but the talent is there). Also, fans should be reminded that we have two first round picks (Clippers pick via Marcus Morris trade).

We may be prime to get the most talented player available and get a value point guard with the later pick. No need to make a hasty trade involving our budding core of younger players folks!! One thought to ponder is the following scenario.

Pick #8 –Devin Vassell (Sophomore – Florida State).

After watching the Knicks this season, one area of improvement of note was shooting. The Knicks as a team was 24th in shooting. Devin Vassell from Florida State has a great jumpshot and is an elite defender. Footage of Vassell can be seen here. Vassell is a great shooter (41.5% from 3-point range, 49.3% overall) and most importantly……………A GREAT DEFENDER!! That’s a beautiful one-two combo that could have a positive impact on the team. WOOOO! The Knicks can put him at shooting guard and play RJ Barrett at the Small Forward where he can flourish at driving to the hole and making plays.

Pick #27 – Casius Winston (Senior – Michigan State)

One player that’s been slept on in the media reports and draft boards is Casius Winston. Casius Winston is Michigan State’s all time assists leader who has great vision and passing skills. Watching Casius Winston you can see true leadership on the floor and he made his teammates better. I like this pick for the Knicks because he’ll bring stability to the team that has been missing a solid point guard for years. The knock is the lack of athleticism but I think he makes up for it in many ways.

The theme for this season is: NO SILLY TRADES PLEASE. Lets keep building this team and form a solid foundation for the future.
