Our Knicks are over 50% fellow fans (18-17)!! Let that sink in. That is the first time the Knicks have been over 50% this late in the season since the 2012-2013 season. That would be the last time we made the playoffs. The Knicks have won 3 in a row including a back-to-back set against Indiana Saturday night then Detroit Sunday. The Knicks didn’t get into Detroit until 2am and didn’t show any ill effects from a short turn around.
There are many reasons for the Knicks resurgence this season. The Knicks’ defense has been stepping it up. As of today, the Knicks rank 2nd in Defensive Rating behind the Lakers. This is with our rock in the paint Mitchell Robinson sidelined with a fractured wrist (hoping to get him back by the end of March). While it’s hard to replace Mitch with any player, shout out to Nerlens Noel for stepping it up BIG. His effort on the court has been commendable and his defense has been a key driver for our success. Great blocks and big Alley-oops like this have been the catalyst for fast break points and nice scoring runs. It has been a block party.
Then there’s the fact we have an ALL-STAR on this team named Julius Randle. Can I get a SOUL CLAP please?! He is driving to the whole with force and splashing threes has been balling out of control. He is averaging 23.4 Points 10.9 Reb 5.5 assists. The highlights have been beautiful and he is having a career year!!
RJ Barrett’s confidence is showing on the court! He is doing it on both ends of the floor and making it look good while doing it.
The Knicks have won 7 out of 9 games and we look to keep the hot streak going against the Spurs!
