Knicks Early Year review
Happy new year folks!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a way to kickoff the new year! Our New York Knicks have fans smiling ear to ear with the wins they have been racking up in 2021. The 01/04 game against the Hawks was particularly inspiring!!
Earlier on even an optimist like I got concerned! The Knicks jumped to a 10-point lead only to see that lead evaporate in what seemed to be an instant! The slide continued in the 3rd quarter and before we knew it the Knicks were down 15 with 4:47 left in the third. In prior seasons the Knicks may have tuned out and the lead may have even grown bigger.
Not these Knicks
Not in 2021
Not by a long shot!!!!
RJ Barret asserted himself. You gotta love the way he is driving to the basket with more confidence! This boy is 6’7 so has a length advantage over a lot of guards in the league.
Julius Randle continues to shine. His knack for scoring has been noted even from his days in college. The main difference this year has been his passing ability! My goodness some of these dishes have been sweet to watch. Quickley shining like a STAR in his rookie season. To be honest this guy DOESN’T EVEN PLAY LIKE A ROOKIE. Crafty pump fakes and dribbles have defenders hoping around confused!
Austin Rivers stepped up with huge threes. Kevin Knox came in and gave quality and timely shots including a buzzer beating three to pull the Knicks within 4 going into the fourth quarter. (Mitchell Robinson had some big blocks that had the Hawks thinking twice about rolling in with soft stuff in the paint. Some stats to get us hype on the season so far as follows:
- The Knicks record is 4-3. This is the first time they have been over .500 at this point of the season since 2012-2013.
- The Knicks won 3 out of 4 games on this recent road trip. The Knicks have not done that since the 2010-2011 season.
- In addition, the Knicks have had the most difficult schedule in the NBA so far and have been competing hard on a nightly basis.
I know its early (10% of the way through the season). ITS REAL EARLY. Still its tough not to be in love with the effort this team is putting in on a day-to-day basis! Props to the whole team for this magic!!!!!!
